Fierce Snake or Inland Taipan
Its scientific name is Oxyuranus microlepidotus. It is found in Australia. It lives in dry plains and grasslands and is a fast moving snake. It generally has a moderate temperament and it’s venom in a single bite can kill up to 100 adult humans. When provoked it will strike quickly inflicting many bites. It grows up to a length of 1.7 meters. It hunts during daytime. The Fierce Snake lays 9-12 eggs at one time. It eats frogs, rats and mice. It has extremely sharp senses of sight and smell.

Common Brown Snake
The scientific name of this snake is Pseudonaja textilis and it has seven sub-species. It is also known as the King Brown Snake. It is found in Australia and grows up to just over two yards length. When provoked they flatten their necks before striking.

Malayan or Blue Krait
It’s scientific name is Bungarus candidus. It grows up to 160 cm long. The structure of its venom is different from that of any other snake. It is a nocturnal creature and does not like sunlight. It prefers to live near water and only attacks in self-defense.

Taipan
It’s scientific name is Oxyuranus scutellatus. It is found in Australia and New Guinea. It prefers to live under fallen logs and in roots of trees. It has the longest fangs of any Australian snake and has extremely poisonous venom. It grows up to 12 feet in length. It eats bandicoots, birds, rats and mice.

Tiger Snake
It’s scientific name is Notechis scutatus. It is found in Australia. It lives in creeks, wetlands and coastal environments. Tiger Snake feeds on mice, birds, lizards and frogs. It bears live young, which can go up to thirty in number. It grows up to 2 meters in length.

Beaked Sea Snake
It’s scientific name is Enhydrina schistosa. It is an extremely dangerous snake and can swallow prey twice the size of its neck. It grows up to 1.2 meters in length. It eats eels, catfish, fish eggs and fish. It is responsible for over half of all the sea snake bites. It has specialized flattened tails for swimming.

Saw Scaled Viper
It’s scientific name is Echis carinatus. Its color is light buff. It belongs to the viper family with shades of gray, brown or dull red. It is a small but very dangerous viper. It is an ill-tempered snake. When provoked it rubs special scales together to make a loud rasping sound.

Coral Snake
It’s scientific name is Micrurus fulvius. It is found in Central America, North America and South America. It spends much of its life underground in cracks and crevices. Its maximum length is not more than three feet. It feeds on other snakes, lizards, reptiles and amphibians. It has more than fifty different species. It has big red bands and small yellow and black bands.

Boomslang
It’s scientific name is Dispholidus typus. It is found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is a large tree dwelling and very poisonous snake. It feeds on frogs, lizards, small mammals, eggs and birds. It grows up to 5.5 meters in length.

Death Adder
It’s scientific name is Acanthopis antarcticus. It is found everywhere in Australia except for Tasmania and Victoria. It can have up to 20 live offspring. It is a wide, narrow-tailed, brown and reddish-orange snake. It grows up to 1.5 meters in length. Its venom attacks the nerves leading to paralysis.
